우리 교회는 2017년부터 다니엘 기도회를 시작했습니다. 다니엘 기도회를 처음 시작했었을 때, 그 흥분과 감동을 잊을 수 없습니다. 다니엘 기도회는 매년 우리를 실망시키지 않았습니다. 갈수록 진한 감동과 감격, 폭포수와 같은 은혜를 선사해 주었습니다. 올해 다니엘 기도회도 마찬가지입니다. 지난 며칠 동안 다니엘 기도회로 인해 너무 행복했습니다. 다니엘 기도회를 통해 우리 교회의 영적 기류가 바뀌고 있어서 감사드립니다. 저는 다니엘 기도회와는 악연입니다. 매년 다니엘 기도회 때마다 감당하기 어려운 큰일들이 생겼기 때문입니다. 돌아보면, 다니엘 기도회를 했기 때문에 그 엄청난 시련을 넉넉히 감당했던 것 같습니다. 매일 저녁마다 다니엘기도회가 기대됩니다. 사모하는 영혼을 만족케 하시는 하나님께서 메가톤급의 은혜를 부어주실 줄 믿습니다.
다니엘은 당시 금 수저였습니다. 그는 집안도 좋고, 육체적으로도 흠이 없이 아름다웠습니다. 지식, 재주, 학문 등 무엇 하나 부족한 것이 없는 스펙 좋은 청년이었습니다. 그런 그가 이방 나라 바벨론에 포로로 붙잡혀 갔습니다. 극도로 절망스럽고 막막했었을 상황에서 그는 뜻을 정하고 하나님을 의지했습니다. 일사각오의 신앙으로 절개를 지키며 타협하지 않고 하나님만 섬겼습니다. 무엇보다 시간을 정하여 무릎을 꿇고 기도하며 하나님께 감사했습니다. 하나님은 다니엘의 기도를 들으시고, 인생의 고비마다 위기를 넘기게 하셨습니다. 정권이 바뀌고 심지어 나라가 바뀌는 상황에서도 다니엘은 왕의 총애를 계속 받고 형통한 삶을 살았습니다. 하나님은 기도하는 다니엘을 포로지에서 미친 존재감이 드러나도록 하셨습니다.
다니엘은 기도의 거룩한 습관을 갖고 있었습니다. 그는 기도의 무릎으로 승부한 기도의 승부사였습니다. 매일 하루 세 번, 85세까지 70년 동안 기도를 쉬지 않았습니다. 기도의 양은 기도의 질과 비례합니다. 기도가 쌓여있는 사람은 감당하기 어렵습니다. 하나님이 함께 하시며 도우시기 때문입니다. 하나님은 다니엘의 기도를 들으시고, 이민자로서 그 힘든 상황 속에서 세상에 선한 영향력을 행사하도록 도우셨습니다. 기도하는 사람이 세상을 바꿉니다. 세상은 똑똑한 사람, 말 잘하는 사람, 돈 많은 사람이 바꾸지 않습니다. 기도하는 사람이 세상의 주역입니다. 다니엘처럼 기도의 거룩한 습관을 가지시기를 바랍니다. 기도하면 인생의 막힌 활로가 뚫립니다. 기도하면 하늘의 능력이 다운로드 됩니다. 기도는 우리의 운명을 송두리째 바꾸어놓는 힘이 있습니다. 이번 다니엘 기도회를 통해 기도의 거룩한 습관이 꼭 형성되기를 소원합니다.
예수님은 ‘내 집은 만민이 기도하는 집’이라고 하셨습니다. 교회의 머리 되신 예수님이 교회는 기도하는 곳이 되어야 한다고 하셨습니다. 다니엘 기도회 동안에는 가급적 교회에 오셔서 함께 기도에 불을 붙이면 좋겠습니다. 사도행전의 기적은 대부분 함께 모여 기도할 때 나타났습니다. 집에서 인터넷으로 참여도 가능하지만, 현장에 오셔서 현장에서 주시는 특별한 은혜를 경험하시기를 바랍니다. 뜨겁게 기도하는 가운데 성령의 강한 임재와 치유, 회복을 경험하시기를 바랍니다. 성령의 불이 우리 모두에게 활활 타오르기를 소원합니다. 성령의 불로 우리 안의 온갖 더럽고 추하고 악한 것들이 태워져 하나님이 쓰시기에 좋은 도구들이 되기를 바랍니다. 이번 다니엘 기도회가 성령의 불 맛을 보며, 하나님의 경이로운 기적을 체험하는 장이 되기를 축복합니다.
Our church began participating in Daniel Prayer since 2017. I can never forget the excitement and the sensation of the first night. Daniel Prayer has never let us down. Each night of prayer brought increasingly more profound sense of satisfaction and emotion, a cascade of blessing, one after another. This year’s is no different. I was filled with happiness for the past few days because of Daniel Prayer. I am extremely grateful to witness a change in the spiritual atmosphere of our church through it. Personally, I have a bad relationship with Daniel Prayer because every year, during this time, I encountered overwhelmingly difficult affairs. And yet looking back, I confess I was able to overcome them because of Daniel Prayer. I am looking for it each night. I trust God will pour his graces on those who thirst after the blessings.
The man Daniel, in his days, was born with a silver spoon. He was born a nobility, with no lack. He was as fit and handsome as they come. And he was well-learned and well-taught. Then he was taken into captivity by Gentile Babylon. In the most depressing and desperate of situation, Daniel resolved to trust in the Lord. With a do-or-die faith, he chose to not compromise his allegiance to God and went on to serve him only. Above all, he set a time each day to kneel in prayer, giving thanks. God heard Daniel’s prayer and delivered him from every danger. Even as regimes came and went, Daniel was highly regarded by the kings and kept on thriving. God highly exalted Daniel in the land of captivity.
Daniel kept a holy habit of prayer. He was a warrior who did battle on his knees. Three times a day, into his 85th year, for 70 years, he did not relax his routine. There is a proportional relation between quantity of prayer and quality of prayer. An individual marked by prayer does not easily lapse for God is with him. God heard Daniel’s prayer and led him to exercise his goodness living as an alien in a hostile circumstance. The world is not run by a smart man, an eloquent man, or a rich man. It is run by a praying man. May you obtain a holy habit of prayer as Daniel did. When you pray, the roadblocks of life are lifted. When you prayer, the powers of heaven become yours. Prayer has the power to turn your life upside down. May you develop the holy habit through this Daniel Prayer.
Jesus said, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for the nations.” Jesus, the head of the church, said church should be a place all come to pray. I would like you to come personally to church to participate in Daniel Prayer. Many of the miracles recorded in the book of Acts took place through the gathering of saints as they prayed. It is certainly possible to participate via online at home, but I want you to experience the special blessings that come with in-person service. May you experience the strong presence of the Spirit, his touch and his healing, as you fervently pray. May Spirit’s flame fall upon us all and may that fire burn away all filth and unclean things in us so that we may become useful vessels unto God. May Daniel Prayer be for you a place you “taste” the fire of the Holy Spirit and see great signs from God.
